Langtang Valley Hidden Trail Expedition

An intimate and soul-stirring trek through the quieter, deeply spiritual valleys north of Kathmandu. Wander along rushing glacial rivers and pine forests, immersing yourself in authentic Tamang culture and pristine mountain serenity far away from the heavy tourist circuits.

Detailed Itinerary (12 Days):

  • Day 1: Kathmandu to Barkhu by Bus 101 km (6 hour) then 10 km 4-5 hours walk to Thulo Syabru (2210m) also we can get jeep to Thulo syabru from Barkhu.

  • Day 2: Thulo Syabru to Lama Hotel (2,470 m) ~11 km 7-8 hrs, Trek through forests of oak and rhododendron, crossing suspension bridges along the Langtang Khola. The lower river valley forest between Bamboo and Lama Hotel is a prime habitat for the red panda.

  • Day 3: Lama Hotel → Gomba chyamki (3230 m) → 12 km 6–7 hrs, Continue through dense forest before emerging into open valleys with views of Langtang Lirung.

  • Day 4: Gomba – Langtang Village → Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m) ~8.5 km 4–5 hrs, A shorter day to help acclimatization. Walk through the wide, flat valley floor past traditional stone walls Mani and famous stupa, monastery, this monastery is almost 300 years old, and local yak milk, cheese factory which is located one of the highest cheese factories in Nepal Established in 1955 with Swiss assistance. This village is tightly ringed by giant snow-capped peaks, mt langtang lirung.

  • Day 5: Rest Day. Hike to Kyanjin Ri lower 4400m, 3-4 hrs, and upper 4,773m 4-5hrs or go for the Tserko Ri 4,984 m 6-7 hrs, Spectacular panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Yala Peak, and surrounding glaciers, lake.

  • Day 6: Kyanjin Gompa → sherpa gaun 2560 m → 21 km, 9-10 hrs, It’s a long walk but scenic day through alpine meadows, forests, and traditional Tamang and Sherpa settlements. the scenic upper trail.

  • Day 7: Sherpa gaun → Syabrubesi 1,550 m ~11 km 5–6 hrs, the upper hillside trail through terraced fields and thin forests, passing through the traditional Tamang village. Continue a steep, winding descent with wide-open views of the Bhote Koshi river. crossing the bridge to mark the end of your trek, and you can enjoy with natural hot springs.

  • Day 8: Drive Syabrubesi → Kathmandu by jeep/Bus 130 km (6-7 hours).

  • Days 9-12: Dedicated transition days covering arrival, acclimatization rest, preparation, Kathmandu cultural sightseeing, and a private closing dinner with Durga’s family.
